Mother Lada (Лада матушка) — A Song by Svetozar and AuraMira

“Mother Lada” (Лада матушка – Lada Matushka) is a mantra-like calm and beautiful song by lead singer Svetozar and the band AuraMira, a slavic revival ensemble from Russia.

Lada is the Spiritual Mother, one of the three aspects of the trinity in the Slavic tradition. This song is a harmonious hymn to her in the role of the life-giving Mother Goddess.

The lyrics of this song translated into English work out to something like:

Mother Lada, the pure one, the virgin [literal: she who gives birth to god/gods], (the light giver).
Bring us joy, oh beneficent one, the people [mankind/the nation] are with you.

Below is the original Mother Lada song from AuraMira’s album Мира всем мирам (meaning “peace to all the worlds”) on the band’s SoundCloud, which also features a beautiful album cover depicting the Mother, Father, and Sun beneficently overlooking and upholding the Slavic people who reach out to them from the earth:

This song has now been added to our traditional Slavic music gallery. More songs like it can be found here:

  • This is one has become one of my favorite songs. From the first time I had heard it on YouTube while exploring Aura Mira’s music, I instantly was drawn to this song.

Jon and I have tried playing it on guitar and singing it. It’s a great song to sing and play!

  • A melodic tune, gentle to hear. Even though I don’t understand the words, the images chosen for the video clip spoke volumes. How appropriate to have more information surfacing that reveals many people and cultures have been revering the Divine Feminine – and continue to do so in this modern day. Thank you Jordan and Jenny for this…

  • Another song to play on repeat 🙂 Very beautiful. The picture of Mother, Father and Sun is just stunning.

    • I agree Anne, its a really beautiful graphics! I also like how there is a smaller, “human version” of the trinity below the god-like one. 🙂 Very meaningful indeed.
