Wishing Everyone a Happy Solstice – December 21 or 22, 2017

With the solstice only a few days away, all of us at the Spiritual Sun wanted to wish everyone a very happy, peaceful and joyous solstice.

On December 21 or 22, 2017, the winter solstice will take place for those in the Northern Hemisphere, and the Summer Solstice for those in the Southern Hemisphere. The date can differ depending on where you are located in the world. If you are unsure which day the solstice is on in your area, this link will help.

Each solar event has its own unique meaning and feeling to them as they each symbolize a specific stage in the process of attaining enlightenment.1

The winter solstice is a joyous and celebratory time as the light begins to increase each day, bringing the world out of darkness as the daylight hours increase. On a spiritual level, it represents the spiritual son being born within, a specific stage along the path to enlightenment which is depicted in the birth of many solar deities around the world at the winter solstice, like Jesus, Horus and Mithras.2

The summer solstice is also a time of great joy and celebration as sun reaches its highest and most brightest point, with the days longer than the nights. In The Path of the Spiritual Sun the summer solstice is described as:

…a time to celebrate the light of consciousness within
ourselves and within each and every person, and to reflect upon the potential for consciousness to awaken.3

There are many ways to celebrate the solstices and equinoxes to gain spiritual insight and inspiration, such as taking part in sacred ceremonies, visiting ancient sites with friends or even creating your own.

Here are some links to pages that provide further information about the meaning of the Solstices and how to celebrate them in a spiritual way:

We hope everyone has a wonderful and inspiring solstice!

  • Thank you all for your wishes! May the new year illuminate more our lives with a heart of courage and a strong will, reignited by the solstice spirit and the inspiration that is given here.

    • Nicely said Maia 🙂 Thank you.

It seems to me that whether our time happens to be quite pleasant or whether the situations in our life are tough, either way it doesn’t matter. What’s more important is the opportunity we have, in time, which we need to make use of. So I’m also looking forward to this next year, whatever it brings, and hope everyone is able to persevere and strongly break through!

  • Thank you Vida. I wish everyone had a meaningful solstice with a lot strength to overcome the internal obstacles.

  • Thank you Vida, Happy Solstice to you and everyone.

Thank you to everyone in the Spiritual Sun, its been such a great resource and opportunity to learn about the religion of the sun from its ancient roots to its present celebrations. It was a beautiful and meaningful sunrise painted in the sky down under and a what appeared like a majestic crown shone from the light of the setting sun that evening.

I was thinking for us in the southern hemisphere it also marks the beginning of a new year and for the northern part of the world the dawning of light from the darkness of winter. How both give us a feeling of hope and new beginnings.

Thank you Matthew for that saying of Jesus, it was heart warming and inspiring.

    Wishing everyone peace.

I’ve very much enjoyed being part of this online spiritual community, which seems to have really come alive this past year. It feels like the light of the Religion of the Sun is dawning in the world. Here’s to seeing that light rise higher in the year ahead 🙂

As Jesus says: “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”

    Best wishes everyone.

    • Thank you Matthew and likewise.

I really like the quote as I also believe it reflects what has been happening here online. This community has really grown and it has been a real inspiration for me. I have learned a great deal from others here who are putting into practice the guidance on how to be a practitioner of the Spiritual Sun.

Thanks to everyone here and best wishes!
