With the solstice only a few days away, all of us at the Spiritual Sun wanted to wish everyone a very happy, peaceful and joyous solstice.
On December 21 or 22, 2017, the winter solstice will take place for those in the Northern Hemisphere, and the Summer Solstice for those in the Southern Hemisphere. The date can differ depending on where you are located in the world. If you are unsure which day the solstice is on in your area, this link will help.
Each solar event has its own unique meaning and feeling to them as they each symbolize a specific stage in the process of attaining enlightenment.
The winter solstice is a joyous and celebratory time as the light begins to increase each day, bringing the world out of darkness as the daylight hours increase. On a spiritual level, it represents the spiritual son being born within, a specific stage along the path to enlightenment which is depicted in the birth of many solar deities around the world at the winter solstice, like Jesus, Horus and Mithras.
The summer solstice is also a time of great joy and celebration as sun reaches its highest and most brightest point, with the days longer than the nights.
There are many ways to celebrate the solstices and equinoxes to gain spiritual insight and inspiration, such as taking part in sacred ceremonies, visiting ancient sites with friends or even creating your own.
