Dodona

Location of the 2016 summer solstice ceremony. Panorama of some of the ancient sites at Dodona with Mount Tomaros in the background.About: YSEE (Supreme Council of Ethnikoi Hellenes) from Thessalia will be celebrating the summer solstice in alliance with the local community “Force of the Dodoni People”. The ceremony is to take place at the sacred sites of “Perrhaebian Dodoni” at the foot of Mount Titaros and by the sacred river Ladonas with views of Mount Olympus and western Perrhaebia.

Experience the ancient culture of Greece with two prominent communities reviving the summer solstice. Enjoy traditional chants, hymns and customs performed by YSEE and the Force of the Dodoni People and come celebrate the ancient past on the longest day of the year!

  • Nice video of that ceremony, in nature, dressed in white like that, reciting those prayers.

    Ancient Greece is a place in time that would be great to visit 🙂 Their 2016 location also looks like an amazing place to have ceremonies.

  • It is great to see people pray to the Sun. I find the connection to the Sun and to something higher very difficult to reach in my life and it is a strengthening reminder to see other people make efforts to tune into it. That said even though I don’t understand their language.
