Here is another chalisa, this time dedicated to the warrior goddess Kali (a fierce aspect of the goddess Durga). The English meaning is included in the video, as well as in its description.

Pleasant to listen to this one Lucia. Both the voice of the main singer and the melody. Thanks.

    Thanks Lucia, another good find.

I like how the lyrics associate Kali with internal energy and the “eternal flame”, which relates to her role in alchemical transformation. Also to her power to destroy demons, “dissolve troubles” remove and eliminate sorrow, remove negative thoughts, and free us from the illusory Maya and reach Moksha (liberation). It also links her to the sun and stars, the physical manifestation of the source of creation.

I noticed a translation of the lyrics were also provided in the song description on Youtube. Here were some that stood out to me:

Praise to the form of Mahakali
You are the engergy, you are the light, the everlasting flame
The Mother at Pavagadh, you are adorned and loved
    Be merciful, Maa Kali

You killed the demons Shumbh Anishumbh and Rakhatbeeja
    You diminished many demons
    Please have mercy, Maa Kali

Your form is in the sun, the moon and the stars of the universe
You dissolve your devotees troubles away
    Please have mercy, Maa Kali

Your fiery form scares away negative beings
That is why Saints, Gurus and Yogis pray for your protection
    Please have mercy, Maa Kali

No negative mantra or witchcraft can affect anyone that you support
You can fight anything, you are the 20 armed Devi
    Please have mercy, Maa Kali

You eliminate deep sorrow of whoever takes refuge in you
    Please have mercy, Maa Kali

It is your blessing that gives us energy
    Your devotees come to you
    Please have mercy, Maa Kali

We are ignorant, foolish and caught up in the illusion of Maya
Please break us free from this
    Please have mercy, Maa Kali

    Mother Bhavatarni grant us Moksha
Destroyer of pain, remove my sorrows
    O Maternal mother
    Please have mercy, Maa Kali

No one can distract anyone who prays to you
You remove your devotees negative thoughts
    Please have mercy, Maa Kali

Ghouls, spirits run away from the sound of your name
You can grant our souls Moksha
    Please have mercy, Maa Kali

I am trying to reach your path in this Kalyug world [world in the age of Kali Yuga]
Please attract me closer to you
Give me knowledge to overcome and be close to you
    Please have mercy, Maa Kali

Praise to the form of Mahakali
You are the energy, you are the light, the everlasting flame
The Mother at Pavagadh, you are adorned and loved
    Be merciful, Maa Kali

    Hi Matthew,

Yes I also thought it was beautiful how the text emphasized her connection to the fire/eternal flame, thank you for pointing it out in a clear way.
Also wanted to mention that Moksha mentioned in the text means liberation/enlightenment.
