This gentle, harmonious ballad is performed by American band Big Star, a 70s rock band from Memphis, Tennessee that originally formed in 1971.  I came across an interesting story about the song.  It was written by Alex Chilton who first came to the band back when they were known as Icewater.  The group was inspired by the song and asked him to join them.  Chilton provided the lead vocal for the song which would later be included in their debut album “#1 Record”. They decided to rename themeslves “Big Star” after a Memphis grocery chain that the band had frequented and used its logo, replacing “star” with “big” to avoid copyright infringements.

    Watch the Sunrise

I can feel it, now it’s time
    Open your eyes
Fears begone, it won’t be long
There’s a light in the sky
    It’s okay to look outside
    The day, it will abide
    And watch the sunrise

Sun, it shines on all of us
We are one in its hand
Come inside and light my room
Like the heart of every man
    It’s okay to look outside
    The day it will abide
    And watch the sunrise

I can feel it, now it’s time
    Open your eyes
Fears begone, it won’t be long
There’s a light in the sky
    It’s okay to look outside
    Your love it will abide
    And watch the sunrise

Lyrics written by Alex Chilton and Christopher Bell

Here is a duet version of the song performed by folk artist Besides Daniel and Molly Parden.
